OPEN GRAVE - Medium - Photography and Editing

A little about the work: Imagine coming to a cemetery, perhaps to the grave of your recently buried loved one, and finding that their grave is empty. It would be so confusing and terrifying. It would make you feel physically ill. This is what the women must have felt, when they arrived at the empty tomb of Jesus.

If you collect all the gospels accounts, there were many women that visited the grave that first Easter morning. There was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, Salome, and probably others. Some also saw angels, and some saw Jesus alive. Then the women went and told the other disciples that the grave was empty and that Jesus was alive.

Luke 24:10 says, “And their words seemed to them like idle tales, and they did not believe.”

Eventually the eleven disciples (all but Judas) got to see Jesus too. One by one, the followers of Jesus began to spread the news that the grave was empty, and that Jesus was alive.
